Most newspapers have a policy against allowing prior review.

That’s the term we use when sources want to read an article before it’s published.

There are a few reasons why we don’t allow this practice. But I’ll get into those after I tell you why this came to mind.

This week, we had someone demand to read an article before it was published. A local resident threatened if we didn’t allow prior review, “I’ll tell everyone I never talked to you and you lied and made it all up.”
