Fire restrictions go into effect

Hot, dry conditions and record temperatures have resulted in high fire danger in the area, causing a trio of local and federal agencies to declare Stage 1 fire restrictions.

Ouray County Sheriff Justin Perry announced Wednesday those restrictions will go into place starting today.

The ban prohibits the use of all fireworks and explosives in unincorporated areas of the county.
