The co-publishers of the Ouray County Plaindealer have been jointly honored with the 2021 Colorado Press Association Rising Star award.

Erin McIntyre and Mike Wiggins were nominated by veteran journalist Susan Greene, who currently works for CoLab and the Colorado Media Project. She noted in her nomination letter that the couple – though experienced in journalism – is still new to the business of owning a newspaper and publishing.
