Ouray outage caused by dump truck
Hundreds of Ouray residents were left without power and Internet service for hours on Feb. 5 after a private contractor working to remove snow hit an overhead power and communications line.
The accident happened around 4:30 a.m. when an employee with Weber Welding and Excavation accidentally left the dump box up on the truck and started driving up Main Street, City Administrator Silas Clarke said. The elevated dump box caught and pulled down the overhead line at Main Street and Fifth Avenue.
