Skiers buried in avalanche near Silverton
A group of backcountry skiers were caught in an avalanche Monday in an area near Ophir Pass, called “the Nose,” at approximately 11,500 feet in elevation.
On Wednesday afternoon, rescue teams were still searching for three people buried in the avalanche path. The avalanche was triggered by the group of seven skiers, according to initial reports from the Colorado Avalanche Information Center.
