Dear Editor:

Last week’s column by Mr. Richardson was more than distasteful. It was horrific. To describe another human being as the author described this unfortunate young woman—unfortunate because she encountered a man who considered her nothing more than a repugnant receptacle for his sexual urges—goes beyond the pale.

Was the sex consensual? Apparently the author didn’t consider the issue worth mentioning. That she might refuse him was apparently either unimaginable or not an obstacle....
