50 YEARS AGO
January 7, 1971 – Parents can no longer tell their children to “go out and play in the traffic (but watch out for cars)”, at least not as far as Ouray’s sledding areas are concerned. And Vinegar Hill may be the best driving in town, with a thick coat of cinders to help enforce the new sledding restrictions. Putting cinders on Vinegar was done to help administer preventative medicine, and not because the city council is anxious to be known as the meanest men in the world. ...
