As marches and protests for racial justice were held in cities around the country this summer, local students organized events attended by several hundred people in Ouray and Ridgway.

Ouray School graduates Jordan Leo and Meg Kienapfel planned a six-hour protest in Fellin Park which attracted about 70 participants, while a group of five Ridgway students and graduates organized a march and protest in Hartwell Park that drew about 300 people a week later.
