Democrats sweep commission races
Democrats swept the Ouray County commissioners’ races Tuesday, claiming the term-limited Republican chairman’s seat and defeating an unaffiliated incumbent.
In races peppered with negative campaign advertisements, former twoterm commissioner Lynn Padgett beat unaffiliated John Peters and Jake Niece defeated fellow political newcomer Ned Bosworth.
Niece, 34, received 2,086 votes, or 55 percent, while Bosworth, 65, received 1,732 votes, according to unofficial election results.
