Thanks to skillful, swift rescuers
Dear Editor:
On Thursday, Sept. 3, a group of four “gal” friends and I embarked on a backcountry hike on an unmaintained, come-and-go pack trail. While returning, one of the gals (Jen) took a fall on a steep, narrow section of the trail and suffered a broken leg. We needed help. Fortunately, Jen had a “SPOT” emergency device that called in our GPS coordinates to the Ouray Mountain Rescue team dispatch.
