June 11, 1970 – An inebriated hitchhiker purporting to be John the Baptist was arrested on Highway 62 near Ridgway Sunday afternoon, June 7. The man, who finally identified himself as John Godlack, age 56, of Norwood, had apparently become stranded in Montrose and was hitchhiking back to Norwood.
