A Ridgway man who was registered as a convicted sex offender in Ouray County has been arrested for alleged sexual exploitation of a child.

Richard “Butch” Karl, 66, was arrested Monday after the Ouray County Sheriffs Office investigated reports that he had bragged online about having sex with a 5-year-old girl.

Detectives started examining Karl’s online habits after getting a tip about Karl’s participation in Tumblr, a blogging website, through the National Center for Missing and Exploited...
