Forest Service campgrounds to open June 1

The U.S. Forest Service plans to open Amphitheater, Angel Creek and Thistledown campgrounds in Ouray County on June 1, despite the fact that most Forest Service crews in the region will be operating with half the usual staff for the summer season.

Ouray District Ranger Dana Gardunio gave the Board of County Commissioners updates on the Forest Service plans for the summer at Tuesday’s meeting.
