Once again, a Ouray County law enforcement officer gets off with a slap on the wrist on an embarrassingly serious felony charge. We refer to former Ouray County sheriff deputy/undersheriff Richard Herman and his apparent solicitation of a youngster for sexual favors (”Ex-lawman takes plea,” Plaindealer, April 2). We citizens deserve much better. Yes, we understand the difficulties of prosecution when the victim declines to testify, yet the crime remains. We need to hold our law e...
