The Ouray Ice Fest has certainly grown from its humble beginnings, when a leak in the penstocks to the hydroelectric plant first built ice that beckoned climbers in the Uncompahgre Gorge. Unique stories with different perspectives from the early days to more modern times all share a theme of love for the Ouray Ice Park and the Ice Festival, along with the gratitude and appreciation so many have for all the people who have made it what it is today.
