Teen survives pitchfork accident
Colt Califano knew he was in a precarious position.
The 15-year-old was finishing his usual chores at the family’s horse ranch off County Road 1 on the evening of Dec. 27. His older brother, Luke, was home for the holidays and pulling him on a sled behind an all-terrain vehicle as Colt spread hay for the horses with a six-tine pitchfork.
Colt was about to call out to Luke to stop and allow him to reposition himself and the pitchfork. Then the ATV hit a bump.
