Local forest picked for 2020 Capitol tree
WESTERN COLORADO
The tree destined for the U.S. Capitol building next year is growing right now, perhaps within the forests near Ouray. The Grand Mesa, Uncompahgre and Gunnison national forests have been selected to provide the 2020 capitol Christmas tree, so it could be close by.
Here’s a hint: It’s probably near a road so it can be harvested and transported pretty easily and it’s probably around 70 feet tall. But we won’t know for sure until it’s cut down a year from now, after an arch...
