SILVERTON – EPA officials say they are continuing to monitor the Silver Wing Mine following an apparent surge in flow on Oct. 9-10 that raised concerns as the Animas River above Eureka was discolored. No estimate on the volume of the surge has been provided. The mine portal normally discharges about 24-28 gallons per minute of relatively clear water.
