Panel OKs 911 surcharge hike

OURAY COUNTY

The Colorado Public Utilities Commission has approved a request from the Ouray Emergency Telephone Service Authority to increase monthly 911 surcharges from 70 cents to $1.25.

The Ouray authority doesn’t provide its own 911 call-taking and dispatching services. It has an intergovernmental agreement with the Montrose Emergency Telephone Service Authority, which in turn funds the Western Colorado Regional Dispatch Center in Montrose.
