Ouray and Ridgway both have new law enforcement leaders, officially.

Though Ridgway’s new marshal, Shane Schmalz, is a familiar face, he was promoted to the job last week with council approval. Schmalz was appointed interim marshal in April, after Tammy Stroup resigned. The job was not advertised, as town personnel regulations encourage vacancies to be filled by internal candidates.
