May 30 to Sept. 26: Ouray’s 2019 growing season is now 120 glorious days and counting. Today is also the average date of the first fall frost.
After a seven and a half month winter that dumped 184.7 inches of snow (normal is 140.1) from Oct. 15, 2018, to May 29,
2019, this summer provided warm, lush relief. The green world temporarily prevailed even in the high mountains by late August, notably transforming the snowy, stony uplands with delicate plant life.
