An elderly Nucla man remains hospitalized this week after he drove his car over a cliff on Colorado Highway 141, crashed into the San Miguel River and was found days later by his grandson.

Robert McLeroy, 82, was in fair condition at St. Mary’s Hospital in Grand Junction as of Tuesday, according to hospital spokeswoman Teri Cavanagh.

McLeroy was reported missing the evening of Sept. 2 after he left his home in Nucla earlier that morning headed for Grand Junction and never arrived.
