Robert (Bob) Madura died peacefully in his home on Wednesday, Aug. 14, 2019, with his loving wife at his side.
Bob was born April 3, 1939, in Hammond, Indiana, to Robert and Violet Madura. He is preceded in death by his parents and wife, Sylvia Madura.
He owned and operated a gas station and towing company in Indiana before moving his family to Estes Park, Colorado, where he owned and remodeled a motel. He owned another motel in Granby before finally settling in Ouray after buying the Best Western Twin Peaks. He also started and owned the Colorado West Jeep
Rentals and tour company in Ouray.
He was an avid hunter and dirt biker and participated in the Colorado 500 for several years. He loved Jeeping and showing off his beautiful San Juan Mountains.
Nothing gave him more pleasure.
He is survived by his wife, Maureen Whitfill Darst
Madura, two sons, Larry (Pharra) and Daniel Madura, a stepdaughter, Amy (Dennis) DePoyster, a stepson, Matt (Whitney) Darst, and grandchildren Kyleigh (Clint)
Griffith and Layton and Raleigh Griffith, Krissy (James) Land, and Madison, Isaac, Rebecca and Lilly DePoyster, and Anthony, Saydee and Hattie Darst.
A celebration of life will be held in September.
