WESTERN COLORADO

Federal lands officials are warning the public to avoid circumventing avalanche debris on local trails that remain closed after record amounts of heavy snow and downed trees blocked the routes.

The Poughkeepsie Gulch Trail, which travels along a nearly four-mile route through the Uncompahgre Wilderness between Ouray and Silverton, is blocked by avalanche slide debris. It currently has no estimated time for reopening.
