Livestock disease confirmed in county
A debilitating, highly contagious viral disease affecting horses, cows and pigs has been detected in Ouray County.
Earlier this week, the first case of vesicular stomatitis was confirmed in Ouray County, according to the Colorado Department of Agriculture. The disease primarily affects cattle, horses and swine but can occasionally infect sheep, goats, llamas and alpacas. Humans rarely contract the disease.
