Council relaxes ban on plastics
The Ridgway Town Council has agreed to back away a bit from its strict ban on plastic bags, voting last week to exempt locking, Ziploc-type bags up to a quart in size.
Councilors unanimously agreed on July 10 to tweak the ordinance they adopted in December that prohibited most single-use plastic bags, including grocery bags. Final approval of the amendment is expected at the council’s Aug. 14 meeting.
The original ordinance, which featured several exemptions, went into effect June 1.
