My grandparents always called the American Goldfinch the “Wild Canary.” They would sit on their front porch of the old farmhouse in Indiana for hours watching this beautiful bird vying for positions on perches to feast. It always seemed the birds could never get enough of the black-oil sunflower seeds. Grandpa filled up three feeders, twice a day and always made sure there was drinking water for them.
