Feds sue railroad for 416 Fire costs
WESTERN COLORADO
The federal government has filed suit against the Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad Company and its owner and operator for damages caused by the 416 Fire, which they claim was caused by cinders from the train’s smokestack. The fire burned more than 53,000 acres of the San Juan National Forest last year.
