Cartoon wrong on NRA

Dear Editor,
I observed the opinion cartoon posted in the Jan. 3 issue, signed “Pudim ’13 Ouray PLAINDEALER." Even though your employee posted the opinion, it surely cannot represent any position held by the paper. In the wake of yet another senseless slaughter of children held captive without protection from evil, the cartoonist captions a child making an incorrect statement about the intention of the National Rifle Association to the effect they desire shoot-outs in school. This is about as informed an idea as considering that our local law enforcement desires a shoot-out because they are capable of defending themselves from evil on our behalf.
