Tipton to remain in House E-mail

Third Congressional District Representative Scott Tipton (R) held onto the seat he won two years ago, winning a second term in Congress. Tipton's Democratic Party challenger Sal Pace kept up with Tipton in the fundraising race but fell short with voters 54 percent to 41 percent, with 18 of 28 counties reporting at press time.
Ouray County, one of the 28 counties in the massive district, voted 1,528 to 1,434 for Tipton.
During the campaign, Pace emphasized his ability to work across the aisle, citing his successes as Democratic leader in the Colorado House of Representatives.

Red Mountain Ditch Update E-mail

On Sept. 27 the United States Forest Service (USFS) approved an amendment to the existing operating and management plan for the Red Mountain Ditch that would allow rehabilitation work to begin.
The City of Ouray has been looking to augment its water supply by purchasing water rights from Red Mountain Ditch for some time. A contract for purchase has been drawn up, but there are several caveats that need to be addressed before the purchase is finalized.
