Although specifics of the timing are unclear, the Bon Ton Restaurant and St. Elmo Hotel will re-open, according to Sandy Lingenfelter. Sandy and her husband, Dan, are owners of the hotel and restaurant, which are historical parts of Ouray’s community.
The Lingenfelters had entered into a lease to purchase agreement with Tim Tucker and Tyler Hill. On Monday, Oct. 29, Tucker and Hill closed the doors, citing a loss of backing from investors as a reason behind the closing.
Employees were given a couple of days notice of the closure. Tucker and Hill said that they sold some of their personal belongings to settle up with employees, but that some back pay is still owed.
“One thing you can say is that Dan and Sandy will be operating it again,” Lingenfelter said. She explained that the situation is still very new to them and they haven’t had a chance to work through all of the details, like when the doors will re-open or if the businesses would be put back on the market.
Tucker and Hill plan on heading back to Tucker’s home in Denver.
