|OURAY COUNTY 2 Miners confirmed dead after morning accident at Revenue-Virginius Mine|

Two miners have now been confirmed dead by Ouray County attorney and press contact Marti Whitmore. The names of the victims have not been released and are pending family notification. At 3:45 p.m., Whitmore confirmed that the miners were the two reported to have been trapped underground. Twenty other employees were transported to regional hospitals. All but two patients have been treated an released, she said.
The Revenue-Virginius mine is a silver, lead, zinc, copper and gold mine operated by Star Mine Operations, a division of Silver Star Resources based in Denver. The mine is located about eight miles south of Ouray. The deposit consists of high grade narrow mesothermal quartz veins.
