Resident comes forward with another UFO sighting PDF  | Print |  E-mail

This object remained fixed in the sky for six hours as the stars, planets and the moon migrated through the night sky, said McElroy, who has been a life long star gazer. She described the light as brighter than that of a full moon, and the size similar to that of a half dollar if the stars themselves were dimes.
McElroy first sighted the light around 10 p.m., just after the other reporter said a light moved out of her view on County Road 23. The object remained stationary until shortly after 4 a.m. ”As soon as I said in my head ‘that’s not right’ it moved,” she said in an interview with the Plaindealer on Tuesday.
McElroy had opened the window to investigate any sounds coming from the light, but there were none. She considered the possibility of a military test flight, but there was no chem-trail left behind after the object departed, and she felt that nothing man-made could remain in the exact same spot in the sky for such a long period of time. “Even satellites move,” she said, trying to rationalize what she saw. McElroy has been watching the skies every night since her initial sighting because she wants her husband to see it. “I’m hoping it comes back,” she said.
During a hunting excursion last October, McElroy said she and eight others witnessed a similar bright, soundless light in the sky. ”Some people would rather not believe,” she said, explaining that half of the people witnessing last year’s event have convinced themselves that helicopters, airplanes, satellites or stealth military flights can explain what was seen.
Throughout the years, groups of sightings have been reported every few years, explained McElroy. For more information on regionalized UFO sightings, go to www.mufon.com.
