Brian Smith, right, Gunnison, and Scott Simmons of Durango won first and second place, respectively,  this weekend in the Sneffels Half Loop cross country ski race. Over 40 racers started at 6:30 a.m. Saturday above Telluride at the Last Dollar Hut Trailhead and finished around noon at County Road 5 near Elk Meadows. Locals Janelle Smiley (who grew up in Ouray County) and Baker Bent, finished 4th and 9th, respectively.

The Sneffels Half Loop is sponsored by San Juan Huts Systems.

The remainder of the top nine finishers, in order, were:
