Last Wednesday, the Great Outdoors Colorado (GOCO) Board awarded $100,000 to Ridgway Schools for renovation of the elementary school playground.

Funded by GOCO's School Play Yard Initiative, playground improvements will include a new recreation field, a local weather station, climbing structures and an outdoor classroom.
"We are so thrilled for this project to happen," said RES Principal Trish Greenwood. "It's going to be a great change for our school and our community."
Parents and kids will be able to enter the playground outside of school hours through a new entry way, allowing community access to the open playground environment.
Other playground amenities will include a circular walking path, trees and artificial shade structures and a fairy garden.
