It all sounded so great

Dear Editor,
I can understand why you might have supported the Affordable Care Act. You liked what Obama told you. In speech after speech across the nation, to the applause and exhortations of his enthusiastic public, he said, “I’m here because of folks seeing their premiums go up 20 and 30 and 40 and 50 and 60 percent in a year.” “It’s about the millions of lives that would be touched and in some cases saved, by making health insurance more secure and more affordable.” “We’ll work to lower your premiums by up to $2,500 per family per year.” “Your employer, it’s estimated, would see premiums fall by as much as 3,000 percent, which means they could give you a raise.” “So if you like your plan, you can keep your plan.” “If you like your doctor, you can keep your doctor.”
